is interested : You must reserve your tag through the local Walton
County Tax and Tag office. There must be 1000 orders statewide or
the tag cannot be made.
Here is what you do: Stop by the WC tax and tag office and
issue a check in the amount of $25 to reserve your tag. Be sure
and tell them that you want the RG tag (Recycle
4 Georgia) which is listed under the category of Beautification
Projects in Georgia. It doesn't matter if you have already had your
birthday, you are simply reserving the tag for when it is available
sometime in 2009. You will also be refunded the $25 in the event
enough people don't sign up for the tag to be made.
Waste Disposal Options: The following options are available to dispose of materials that are not recycled: • Green Bags - We accept the county approved "Green Bags" for garbage disposal. The $1.50 purchase cost of these bags helps pay for the disposal of your trash at a state approved landfill. The green bag is 32 gallon, 2 mil plastic bag with the Walton County emblem imprinted on the bag. These bags are available at area grocery stores, usually at the service desk. After purchasing a green bag, there is no additional fee to dispose of the bag at the county drop-off centers. • Disposal of larger items that require land filling is based on a rate of $45 per ton. Our computerized scales will weigh your loaded vehicle when entering the facility. Your now-empty vehicle is again weighed as it exits the facility, and the difference in weight is used to determine the fee to be charged. • To dispose of yard waste, you may either use a privately owned inert landfill, or follow the guidelines of burning. These regulations can be obtained by contacting the Walton/Morgan Division of Georgia Forestry at (770) 207-4204. • You have the option to hire a private hauler to pick up your garbage at the curb if you decide you do not want to use the green bag system. To report a problem with a private hauler, call (770) 267-1350. We accept cash and checks only. All recyclable materials EXCEPT motor oil, car batteries, metal and appliances are accepted at NO CHARGE to you at our Convenience Centers, found at the following locations:

Containers should be rinsed and lids removed. Labels are ok. We DO NOT assist in unloading large items unless we have adequate staff. We advise you to call before coming to our facility if you think you will need assistance. We DO NOT accept hazardous waste such as chemicals and paint for disposal.
