Our Mission

To treat each acre of land in Walton county in accordance with its needs and use and each acre in accordance with its capabilities.

Our Goal

To set priorities and direction for the needs of Walton county's soil and waterways and to educate Walton's citizens on the importance and practices of conservation.

About Us

We are a part of a larger federal conservation effort that was started in the 30's in reaction to the “Great Dust Bowl”. Walton County joined the Ocmulgee District in 1939 before becoming our own district. The Conservation Districts were formed to provide federal assistance on soil and water conservation to local citizens under local direction and priorities set forth by the chairman and the supervisors of each district. Since the start of Conservation Districts in the state of Georgia the soil and water on two-thirds of Georgia's 37million acres have been protected.
